HEAD TO TOE™
HEAD TO TOE is an all natural comprehensive skin, coat and hoof formula targeted to correct nutritional deficiencies which may manifest as allergic skin conditions, skin inflammations and irritations, dry, dull coats and brittle, weak hooves. HEAD TO TOE produces brilliant, shiny, glossy coats and strong, hearty hooves.
A chief ingredient of HEAD TO TOE is Biotin, an essential B-complex vitamin which aids in cell growth, the manufacture and utilization of fats and amino acids, and in carbohydrate metabolism. Biotin supplementation for horses has been proven to build strong, hard hooves and to ensure healthy coats. A deficiency of Biotin in animals can result in poor hoof quality and growth, severe dermatitis (skin inflammation), hair loss, neuromuscular disorders, deterioration of heart structure and function, anemia, impairment of carbohydrate metabolism, decreased fertility, reduced resistance to disease, retarded wound healing, reduced ability to withstand stress and even sudden death.1
L-Methionine (natural), another ingredient of HEAD TO TOE , is a sulfur-containing amino acid which is a required building block for many body proteins, and is an important nutritional factor in the maintenance of healthy skin, coats and hooves.2 Both L-Methionine and L-Lysine (natural), another component of HEAD TO TOE, are two amino acids needed for strengthening the disulfide bonds in the keratinized cells of the hoof. L-Methionine is also a powerful antioxidant that prevents free radical damage to the tissues and helps to reduce excessive levels of histamine in the body. It has also been shown to strengthen the hair follicles. A deficiency of L-Methionine can lead to poor skin tone, hair loss, toxic waste buildup, fatty infiltration of the liver, anemia and retarded protein synthesis.3 L-Methionine may be deficient in adequate amounts in the daily diet of many horses to support optimal skin, coat and hoof health.
Natural lubricants in HEAD TO TOE such as, Flaxseed and Lecithin, provide essential fatty acids which keep the skin soft, prevent dryness of the skin and hooves and promote the healing of irritated and inflamed skin. The Vitamins E and Selenium in the product work together to promote healthy skin cell growth and to prevent dermatitis and hair loss.4 The Pantothenic acid, Vitamin C, Bioflavinoids and Equimax Botanical Complex IV™ in HEAD TO TOE stimulate the production of natural anti-inflammatory chemicals which prevent allergic skin reactions and encourage the growth of healthy skin.
MSM (organic sulfur) is also included in HEAD TO TOE . Sulfur is a mineral which is found in all body tissues and supports tissue containing significant amounts of collagen and keratin, including the skin, coat and hooves. Sulfur is essential in methionine, cysteine and protein metabolism. Sulfur also has a role in the prevention of allergies. According to Stanley W. Jacob, M.D, a leader in the pioneering research on MSM, one of the major properties of MSM is that it is a very effective therapy for preventing and treating allergies.5 Kelp is added to HEAD TO TOE as it is a rich source of vitamins, minerals and trace elements, especially iodine. Iodine is crucial to the proper functioning of the thyroid gland. Many skin conditions in horses can be attributed to a low functioning thyroid gland.
All of the ingredients and flavors in HEAD TO TOE are of the highest quality, free of chemicals, synthetic preservatives, artificial flavors, artificial sweeteners, colors or sucrose. MANN FORMULATIONS contain Human Grade ingredients which are the highest grade ingredients in terms of purity and potency. They are far superior to feed grade ingredients. In addition, all of the vitamins, minerals, amino acids and other nutrients used in MANN FORMULATIONS PRODUCTS are also in their most absorbable form. HEAD TO TOE is processed specifically to be palatable to horses. When first introducing HEAD TO TOE, use a small amount mixed in feed such as alfalfa and molasses or bran, and over a period of days, work up to the recommended dose to allow the horse to become accustomed to the flavor.
