Acupuncture is a primary health care system which originated in China over 2,000 years ago. It is considered one of the most ancient forms of medicine practiced in the world today and is used widely throughout Europe and Asia. Acupuncture has become a popular primary health care provision in this country because of its proven effectiveness and the public’s positive experience with it. It is used not only to control pain and to promote healing, but also as a preventative measure to strengthen immunity and maintain health. An important benefit of acupuncture is that it is a safe and effective medical treatment and is virtually free of side effects.
